Basic Computer Shortcut Keys You Should Know



8-lesser-known-useful-mac-keyboard-shortcuts1 I have shared almost very basic keyboard shortcut from windows 8 to MS office shortcut keys.Now today's post is so simple and basic.Some of the hotkeys are so basic for those who are regular user of computer, and some of these are stranger for you.To perform fast operation and to save your precious time you should always use shortcut keys that is why I always share the keyboard shortcut keys with you.The followings are some basic PC shortcut keys that are supported in most of the computers. They are also supported in most application software.

Basic Shortcut Keys



  • Alt + e
    Pull down the top Edit menu.

  • Alt + fPull down the top File menu

  • Ctrl + a
    Select all text.

  • Ctrl + c
    Copy selected item(s) (to clipboard).

  • Ctrl + fFind.

  • Ctrl + v
    Paste copied item(s) from clipboard

  • Ctrl + xCut.

  • Ctrl + InsSame as Ctrl + c

  • Ctrl + (left arrow)Move one word to the left at a time.

  • Ctrl + (right arrow)Move one word to the right at a time.

  • Shift + InsSame as Ctrl + v

  • Shift + Delelte (or Del)Cut. Or permanently delete selected item(s) on Windows Explorer.

    Jump to the beginning of the line or page.

  • Ctrl + Home
    Jump to the beginning of the document or page.

  • EndJump to the end of the line or page.

  • Ctrl + Endump to the end of the document or page.

  • Shift + HomeSet selection (highlight) from current position to beginning of the line or page.

  • Shift + EndSet selection (highlight) from current position to end of the line or page.

  • Shift + (left arrow)Set selection (highlight) from current position to the left, one character at a time.

  • Shift + (right arrow)Set selection (highlight) from current position to the right, one character at a time.

  • Shift + (down arrow)Set selection (highlight) from current position to the next line down.

  • Shift + (up arrow)Set selection (highlight) from current position to the next line up.
